My sister is currently in Woodstock, IL. She wrote me recently begging for another hat like the red one I had knit for her last winter. She wants white. Since Habitat by Jared Flood worked out so well for her last time, I decided to do that one up again. Meet Hibernate. Done with 1 skein of Cascade Yarns Venezia Worsted it is soft and cozy and yummy.

I've wanted to do tatting for a while, and finally got a shuttle and cozied up to You Tube for some tatting tutorials.

Eh, not really my cup of tea.

Then I saw a tutorial on Instructables by TotusMel for a Flower Pendant. Beautiful, and what is this? Needle Tatting? Must learn more.

Needless to say I was intrigued. I found a needle I could use and got some thread and whipped this baby up during my lunch break! Turned it into a zipper pull.

Like I need another hobby.

It keeps going and going...
I am close to the finish on this! I did have to rip it back a couple of times to just past the half way point to try and flip the image, but somehow I still ended up mirroring it. I finally threw my hands up in disgust as I have no more time to try and do this stupid little concept that only I would notice before this is due as an xmas gift. So it is what it is.

Turns out I'm going to be moving in a few weeks, so needless to say I will not be devoting much time to crafting.

Double knit in the round.

I've done double knitting in the past. I've not done anything harder than just double knitting sleeves in the round on straights becasue I was lazy and didn't want to go digging up my circulars or double points.

I am not big on knitting baby stuff, I have very few babies in my life. However a close friend has a 14 mo old and I have a cousin that will be a year on the 4th of July.

I am a designer!! I have a pattern up on Ravelry. 

Supplies:

Yarn: any yarn, any weight (I have used aran weight and sport weight with spectacular results)

Crochet Hook: US P / 15 mm

Pattern:
First Section:
Ch 46 +3 (the 3 are the dc and ch 1 for the next row), turn.
Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook. *Ch 1, skip the next ch and dc in the next ch*. Repeat between *’s to end, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Dc in 1st dc. *Ch 1, dc in the next dc*. Repeat between *’s to end. Ch 3, turn.

Rpt row 2 12 times more, or until piece is 18” tall.

Row 15: Dc in 1st dc. *Ch 1, dc in the next dc*. Repeat between *’s to end. Ch 16 + 3, turn.


Second Section:
You will now be crocheting perpendicular to your previous work. You will be crocheting along the side of the piece.

Row 16: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook. *Ch 1, skip the next ch and dc in the next ch*. Repeat between *’s to end of new chained piece. Dc in top of dc from First Section (before the ch 16). Ch 1, dc in top of next dc, turning the rows from 1st section into columns in the second section. At end, ch 3, turn.

Row 17: Dc in 1st dc. *Ch 1, dc in the next dc*. Repeat between *’s to end. Ch 3, turn.

Rpt row 17 13 times more, or until second section also measures 18”.

Match up red edges and ss together.

Finishing:
Weave in all ends.
Optional: Add tassels to the points of the poncho, or add fringe all the way around.

Wearing:
Wear the poncho with the points at either side of you, or in the front and back.
