Open Weave Poncho Pattern

Supplies:
Yarn: any yarn, any weight (I have used aran weight and sport weight with spectacular results)
Crochet Hook: US P / 15 mm

Pattern:
First Sectio
n:
Ch 46 +3 (the 3 are the dc and ch 1 for the next row), turn.
Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook. *Ch 1, skip the next ch and dc in the next ch*. Repeat between *’s to end, ch 3, turn.

Row 2: Dc in 1st dc. *Ch 1, dc in the next dc*. Repeat between *’s to end. Ch 3, turn.

Rpt row 2 12 times more, or until piece is 18” tall.

Row 15: Dc in 1st dc. *Ch 1, dc in the next dc*. Repeat between *’s to end. Ch 16 + 3, turn.


Second Section:
You will now be crocheting perpendicular to your previous work. You will be crocheting along the side of the piece.

Row 16: Dc in the 4th ch from the hook. *Ch 1, skip the next ch and dc in the next ch*. Repeat between *’s to end of new chained piece. Dc in top of dc from First Section (before the ch 16). Ch 1, dc in top of next dc, turning the rows from 1st section into columns in the second section. At end, ch 3, turn.

Row 17: Dc in 1st dc. *Ch 1, dc in the next dc*. Repeat between *’s to end. Ch 3, turn.

Rpt row 17 13 times more, or until second section also measures 18”.

Match up red edges and ss together.

Finishing:
Weave in all ends.
Optional: Add tassels to the points of the poncho, or add fringe all the way around.

Wearing:
Wear the poncho with the points at either side of you, or in the front and back.

This is a beautiful poncho. I have some Mohair and Silk yarn that would look great made by this pattern. I can't wait to make!
